BIKE Tour por Santiago 101

We will visit different points of Santiago on our bicycles, to know the city from another perspective. During this week we will have the opportunity to learn the basic mechanics, care and maintenance of bicycles. All this accompanied by workshops for the correct use of these concepts, applied to different types of land that we will find during this program. This challenge will allow us to enhance students' knowledge and skills, promote a healthy lifestyle and have a good time.

For those interested in approaching the practice of trekking, “Santiago Summits, Level 101” is a good opportunity since it will be 5 days where we will learn the basic techniques to perform this type of outdoor activities. We will tour the main hills around Santiago, where we will gradually increase the difficulty, to be able to measure our progress at the end
of the week. We will learn hiking techniques, principles of leaving no trace and safety and consideration that must be taken when carrying out this type of activities.

5 days and 4 nights program in Maitencillo, V Región (two hours from Santiago)
In this program students will learn to paddle in a Polynesian canoe (Va'a) with the best instructors in Chile of this discipline.
They can also paddle in sea kayaks, beginning in a Maitencillo cove, a perfect place to learn and practice this discipline.
Finally, they will have the opportunity to ride a MTB bike and improve their technique, through forest and coastal landscapes.

We invite students to live a unique experience in our Andes mountain range, in the magical area of the Maipo Canyon. Here we can connect with nature and learn in a meaningful way its characteristics. Located 900 meters above sea level, in the Andes Mountains, Lonquimay is a land of natural beauties, were centuries-old Araucarias predominate the landscape and snow capped mountains sit in the background. In winter, it is a backcountry ski and snowboarding paradise, whilst summer is warm enough for hikes and water sports.
During our 7-day-trip, we will not only be tourists in one of the most unexplored and beautiful places in Chile, but we will also be continually immersed in outdoor learning experiences. We will visit the magical Isla de Chiloé and the unexplored Tantauco Park.
We will live the nature of the National Park identifying its flora and fauna.
We will learn and together with your local people about traditional cuisine, weaving and dyeing natural wool in rueca. We will have adventure activities such as kayaks and horseback riding. We will learn the traditional dances of this area and how to cook a curanto. In Tantauco we will have the possibility of knowing virgin flora and fauna such as lakes, forests, rivers among others, through talks on environmental education, kayaks and trekking. We will have an adventure race. And finally we will embark on an entertaining sea tour to spot southern dolphins and Humboldt penguins.

Your activities may include wall painting, furniture fixing and diaper changing. It's up to you students to communicate with Casa Grada to learn what needs they have for this year, then make a plan with your group, divide up the responsibilities and lead your group to success. For these children you will make a big difference in the world, and who knows, they might just pay you back likewise. A small group will play and conduct activities for nursing babies and toddlers that will appreciate your love and care.
Friday will culminate with an outing of taking the children to the Buin Zoo or the Granja Educativa in La Reina for the day.
Hogar Misión de María

Hogar Mision de Maria is an orphanage for babies and children 0 - 3 years of age. The children are given shelter and love while they wait to return to their biological families or get adopted. This WWW trip will be a week of service and will include: helping to care for and give the children individual attention and help paint and clean at the hogar. It's up to you students to communicate with Mision de Maria to learn what needs they have for this year, then make a plan with your group, divide up the responsibilities and lead your group to success. One highlight of the trip will be to take the oldest babies and children to the Granja Educativa in La Reina or other fun excursions.
Visión For Chile

Casa Esperanza is located in the commune of La Pintana, an area that experiences many social conflicts, segregation, poverty, drug addiction, teenage pregnancy and many of childrens' orphanages (the majority collaborating of SENAME). Our program is focused on supporting schools with differential needs and work in construction. We will be working in the community center where we serve 50 students of SENAME CHILDREN'S homes and children of the sector every week, in addition to remodeling the community center and one room of the residence for young women who do not have a home after their residence in girls' homes has terminated due to their age.

A magical journey to the “belly button of the world", a very old island of volcanic origin.
We will get to know the most interesting places of Rapa Nui, such as the idyllic Anakena beach, the Moais, the quarry where the Moais were cut from and the famous volcanoes. We will be able to interact with the islanders to get to know their customs, understand their culture and the rituals unique to these people of land and sea, and also have dancing and painting classes with them.
We will be able to snorkel and Kayak to appreciate the marine life, watching turtles and different fish species.
We will grab a bike and ride around the island and finish with a traditional BBQ. We will take a boat to explore the caves in an area known as Mataveri until finally arriving at Los Motus, small islands coming out of the sea where large colonies of birds live. Together with some islanders we will prepare a typical dishes called Curanto, and will participate with a group of artisan workshops necklaces and carved.

On this trip to Bogota, Colombia, you will have the opportunity to BE the difference as we travel to CNG (Colegio Nueva Granada International School) to facilitate workshops with their MS and HS students on inclusivity and strengthening support systems in a caring community. We will likely be traveling from Sunday to Saturday, with a day to explore Bogota, three days of work at CNG, and a day to explore the outskirts of Bogota. Your commitment will include preparing the training you will run at CNG, which may include a few after school meetings and/or weekend meetings leading up to this WWW experience.

Kitchen Club it’s a cooking school and event center that’s search to make the kitchen accessible to the people that love to cook and other curious people, to share experience and knowledge around the kitchen. We will teach in a practical way about classic and modern technics of cooking, through the preparations that we perform classes. In Kitchen Club Master Chef type of competition, we mount a market with all the ingredients, the students are divided in groups and make a dish that will be judge by one of our chefs, evaluating initiative, technics, organization and potentiate teamwork in a competition against the clock. Many of you are deep into university application season. Most of you are juggling multiple applications across multiple country systems. All of you are managing a full life and demanding academic schedule. Who is ready to get university application essays done? During the five days of University Application Writing Workshop, students will work one-on-one with Ian Lally and/or Heather Marks and in small groups to brainstorm, outline and write awesome drafts for all of your personal statements/Common Application essays, UC personal insight questions and USA and World University supplemental essays. Once essays are complete, students can turn their attention to other important application items like resume and interview preparation as well as application submission.
