The International School Nido de Aguilas

Ten high school students traveled to Curitiba, Brazil last week to participate in the SAAC STEM Conference, hosted by ISC. Nido's delegation shined throughout the three days, and they were crowned "Champions" of the event after successfully completing all of the projects and collaborative challenges. It was an amazing experience for the team, led by Mr. Gawura and Ms. Kim, and our students returned inspired by the opportunity. STEM is a new branch of the SAAC activities tree, and with participation from ASA-Paraguay, our students expanded their ideas and network of international friends. We are already looking ahead to the 2025 STEM conference.

Our Middle School MUN team traveled to Panama last week to participate in the PANAMUN conference, hosted by ISP. Fourteen students represented Nido as they debated current global issues and advocated as representatives from different national delegations. The conference was an overwhelming success, full of learning and growth opportunities. Thanks to our teacher-leaders of the MS MUN, Ms. Philbin and Mr. Hickson for guiding this group to such a unique learning experience. MS MUN - we are proud of you!

Our varsity teams hosted a memorable football and volleyball invitational last weekend in preparation for our season-ending tournaments and events. Our friends from EARJ (Rio) brought four varsity teams and close to thirty cheerleaders, which helped to create an amazing atmosphere and intense competition. Eight other teams joined our invitational event, representing some of the top clubs and school teams in Santiago. Our Eagles proved up to the challenge notching hard-won results while growing in experience and team unity. Our boys and girls football teams earned draws against EARJ and wins against local club teams. Both the football teams won their third place games and look ready to take on the SAAC competition next week. The boys varsity volleyball team played with grit and determination against stiff competition, winning their final bronze-medal match against Montetabor. In the grand finale, the varsity girls volleyball team took Santiago powerhouse St. Thomas Morus deep into the 5th set, proving our team can compete with the very best high school teams in the city. It was a thrilling finish to an overwhelmingly successful tournament. Thank you to all the parents and supporters who came out to watch and contribute. Go Eagles!
