This month, we are honored to celebrate Jeannie Anthony, Nido’s Director of Student Support Services, who will retire at the end of the school year. We also recognize one of our most beloved community members—her long-haired Dachshund and emotional support dog, Jasper.
Jeannie joined Nido in 2023 after an impressive career at the International School of Brussels and in schools across the United States. With over 40 years of experience in education, she will retire to begin a new life in France. During her time at Nido, Jeannie has played a transformative role in strengthening how we support every student to feel seen, safe, and empowered to thrive. Her leadership has left a lasting legacy—from training over 340 faculty, staff, and Board members on Child Safeguarding and Protection practices, to aligning schoolwide counseling systems, improving campus accessibility, and expanding our DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) initiatives.
Reflecting on her time at Nido, Jeannie shared: “There is something truly special about this place. It’s the people who make Nido a welcoming, inclusive community. I’ve worked hard to foster a strong sense of identity and belonging within the Student Support Services team. I’m proud of how we’ve developed systems that align our values and practices to better serve our students. I believe I’ve helped raise awareness around our responsibilities in child safeguarding, inclusivity, and neurodiversity.”
Beyond her professional impact, Jeannie has brought warmth and joy to campus through Jasper, her loyal companion and a star of our Paws for Positivity program. Jasper has become a much-loved presence at Nido, offering comfort, connection, and spontaneous moments of happiness. “It’s been such a joy to live in a country that truly embraces dogs,” Jeannie says. “The Paws for Positivity program has been wonderful for both Jasper and me. He’s truly an Ambassador of Joy. I always smile when I hear someone call out ‘Jasper!’—and then add, ‘Oh, hi to you too!’” she laughs.
Jeannie, thank you for your dedication to student support, advocacy for inclusive practices, and steadfast care for every community member. And Jasper, thank you for the joy you’ve brought to our halls, classrooms, and hearts. You both have made a lasting difference at Nido. As Jeannie closes her chapter at Nido, she reflects, “What we will miss most is the people—and the beautiful country of Chile.” We wish you both all the best as you embark on your new adventure. Nido will always be home, and we hope you’ll come back to visit us soon.
