The International School Nido de Aguilas

This week's Spotlight goes to our beloved faculty & staff members who will retire this month:  Viviana Muñoz, Marcela Fuentes, Alvaro Bustamente, Veronica Lubbert,  Chris Roules and Jeannie Anthony!

Viviana Muñoz has taught in Nido for 33 years. During her professional life at Nido, she has formed our youngest learners in the Early Years and Elementary Schools, spreading her love for teaching and learning. “Nido has been my second home for 33 years. Decades have passed, but the memory of every moment, every person, every achievement, and every challenge will remain engraved in my heart forever. It has been more than just a workplace; it has been a place where I have grown, learned, and shared my heart and energy with generations of students, parents, coworkers, and unconditional friends. It has also been a magical place where I have seen thousands of eagles dream, grow, and fly — each with their own story, strengths, and life experiences. Here, I also found true friendships that became family, and students who taught me that life is simpler when lived with joy and love. I am happy to have been part of and shared in this great community where I have grown and learned so much — as a woman, a teacher, and a mother. Dear Nido, thank you for all the support, trust, and love. May all the eagles continue to fly high with much love.”

Marcela Fuentes has been part of the Nido community for 32 years. During her professional life at Nido, she always worked in the Tech Team, becoming a true ambassador of Nido’s Admin team. "My heart aches as I leave this nest. Although it's a phrase many have repeated, today I truly understand why: it's not easy to leave the nest and fly toward new horizons. Nido is a magical place. For someone coming from the administrative world, hearing the laughter and shouts of children is truly food for the soul; it creates that warm feeling that fills the heart. I am grateful to all the people who crossed my path over these nearly 33 years. Each one of them has left a mark on me. At Nido, I formed deep friendships, worked on enriching projects that helped me grow professionally, and was able to defend my points of view without fear. I always felt respected and loved. All I can say is: Thank you, Nido. Farewell.”

Alvaro Bustamente has been involved in our physical education department for 27 years. During his professional life at Nido, he has shared his love for sports by working as a PE teacher in Elementary, ASA Coordinator, Karate teacher, and permanent substitute. “I feel immense gratitude for everything I’ve received here, far more than I could have ever imagined or deserved. Students, colleagues, support staff, administrators, and parents... so many incredible people who have touched my life with their kindness, generosity, wisdom, and countless shared smiles. Nido is a special place in Chile, but even more than that, it’s a place filled with human warmth, where meaningful learning is nurtured, not only in education, but also in life itself. I leave with deep personal and professional growth, unforgettable moments, immense gratitude, and memories that will stay with me forever.”

Veronica Lubbert arrived in Nido in 2002 and has spent the last 22 years teaching French and Spanish in the High School, sharing her passion for languages with hundreds of students. “Being among high schoolers during all these years has been the greatest gratification of all. When I greet them now as colleagues at Nido, or I receive messages about their current life and accomplishments, or they come to visit me, I feel a part of the memories of hundreds of professional adults around the world. I leave Nido feeling a little sad, but completely satisfied with the whole experience, and still full of energy to start another chapter in my life. Thanks to all and everyone.”

Jeannie joined Nido in 2023. With over 40 years of experience in education, she will retire to begin a new life in France. During her time at Nido, Jeannie has played a transformative role in strengthening support for every student to feel seen, safe, and empowered to thrive. “There is something truly special about this place. It’s the people who make Nido a welcoming, inclusive community. I’ve worked hard to foster a strong sense of identity and belonging within the Student Support Services team. I’m proud of how we’ve developed systems that align our values and practices to better serve our students. I believe I’ve helped raise awareness around our responsibilities in child safeguarding, inclusivity, and neurodiversity.”

Chris Roules arrived in Nido in 2023 and has shared her love of science with Nido students for the past two years. "Nido is a heartwarming place filled with enthusiastic students who are also very kind. Similarly, the faculty, the staff, and the parents are also very welcoming and kind, and helpful. I have lived all over the world, and the Nido community is among the very best I've ever been a part of. Thank you so much to the Nido community for my two wonderful years here!" she says.

Thank you to Ms. Muñoz, Ms. Fuentes, Mr. Bustamente, Ms. Lubbert, Ms. Roules, and Ms. Anthony for dedicating so many years to our School, being true advocates of  #TheNidoWay, and exemplifying the best qualities of a Nido Learner. Each of your roles was crucial, and we cannot thank you enough for the positive impact you have had on our community. We wish you the best in the future, and remember, you’ll always be part of the Nido family!
