The International School Nido de Aguilas

As Earth Day approaches on Tuesday, April 22, Nido has prepared a full day of activities designed to engage, educate, and inspire our entire community.

Guided by our vision—At Nido de Aguilas, we strive to be earth-friendly. We connect sustainability to our learning. We explore our impact on the environment. We act with purpose for a better tomorrow—our Earth Day events are both a reflection of our values and a call to action for the continued stewardship of the world around us.

Some of the highlights of our Earth Day celebration include:

  • Wear Green! To honor global efforts on Earth Day, we invite students, teachers, and parents to wear green as a symbol of unity and commitment to protecting our planet. This simple yet powerful gesture reflects our shared dedication to environmental awareness and sustainability. Together, we’re showing that every action—big or small—can contribute to a healthier Earth.

  • The Nido Eco Fair: This exciting event open to students, parents, and staff will feature over 40 local, eco-friendly vendors offering a wide range of sustainable products. Also, our talented Grade 1 students will showcase and sell their water conservation calendars, while Grade 2 students will proudly present interactive displays on how they’ve become responsible consumers.
7:45 am to 4:00 pm at International Park

  • The Changemakers Summit: In this full-day event, mixed-grade student teams (Grades 4-11) will tackle the urgent challenge of responsible consumption and production. Using the Nido Inquiry Process, teams will investigate, make sense of, and communicate solutions to local sustainability issues affecting Lo Barnechea. The teams will design innovative solutions—and the most impactful idea will earn a 15-minute audience with the Mayor of Lo Barnechea.

  • Nido Hills Cleanup Hike: Parents, alumni, and staff are invited to explore and care for our beautiful natural surroundings, combining physical activity with hands-on environmental action.
7:45 am at the parking lot by the Upper Field

  • Planting Event: For Earth Day, a group of parent and teacher volunteers will plant sustainable, drought-tolerant plants in a garden adjacent to the theater entrance. These native and low-water plants will beautify our environment and help us conserve water as part of our commitment to sustainability. High school students will also create a rock garden featuring hand-painted designs inspired by nature, sustainability, and wellness, adding a meaningful and artistic touch to our Earth Day celebrations. This initiative reflects our ongoing efforts to care for the planet and model responsible environmental stewardship for our community.
2:00 to 4:30 pm at the garden by the Theater entrance

  • Building a Community Rock Garden: Come by and paint a nature-themed rock for the community garden by the Theater entrance.
1:15 to 3:30 pm at the garden by the Theater entrance

CELEBRATING SAAC SUCCESS

What an incredible two weekends of competitions across the continent. We started this season aiming to start strong and finish strong as we continued to focus on nurturing student leadership and team culture. Our HS student-athletes handled themselves in exemplary fashion throughout these high pressure, end-of-season events, standing tall, and receiving numerous compliments for their character and sportsmanship. The Nido Eagles won five of the eight SAAC Championships this season, a strong testament to our school's athletic philosophy, our educator-coaches, our student-leadership, and our belief in the learning process.
