Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere, and at any time. When it does, survival depends on more than awareness—it requires a community that is prepared, equipped, and ready to respond.

CPR

To recognize International CPR/AED Awareness Week (June 1–7), the Nido Health Unit has organized several activities designed to promote life-saving knowledge and strengthen emergency preparedness across our campus.

Today at 2:30 pm, the Health Unit will host an interactive booth in International Park, where families and students are invited to practice hands-on CPR techniques, learn how to locate Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) across campus, and explore key tips that can make a critical difference during an emergency.

Faculty and staff also received informational stickers containing essential emergency-response guidance, helping ensure that important life-saving information is always close at hand.

The Power of Call–Push–Shock

In a cardiac emergency, every second matters. If someone suddenly collapses and becomes unresponsive, anyone can help save a life by following three simple steps:

CALL – Contact emergency services immediately.

PUSH – Begin high-quality CPR.

SHOCK – Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) as soon as possible.

A Commitment to Safety

In strict compliance with Chilean Law Nº 21.156 (Ley DEA) and Ministry of Health regulations, Nido has implemented comprehensive measures to ensure the safety of our community.

These include:

  • Eight strategically located AEDs distributed throughout campus to ensure rapid access from any location.

  • Regular staff training, with all employees—including teachers, administrative staff, and support personnel—receiving certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED use every two years.

  • Full legal compliance, including required device quantities, clear and visible signage, accessible storage locations, and documented preventive maintenance to ensure all equipment remains rescue-ready at all times.

At Nido, we take this responsibility seriously. Through ongoing training, accessible equipment, and community education, we are committed to providing the safest possible environment for our students, faculty, staff, and families.
