Greetings from Middle School!
I trust that your child enjoyed the winter break – traveling, reading (I hope!), sleeping a bit later – and that she/he is excited about the start of the new school year. For me, my family and I spent a few of weeks in the States visiting with family, meeting my two-week-old nephew, swimming in any body of water we could find, and watching hours of Wimbledon and the World Cup. Since returning to Santiago, I have enjoyed reuniting with our two dogs, Emma and Jack, (even if they start barking at 6:00 a.m.!), going on a few chilly morning runs, and, of course, preparing for the start of the school year.
The middle school teachers and I spent the past week discussing various parts of our program. We look forward to celebrating the unique aspects of middle school students, offering them a rich and challenging curriculum, cultivating in them a strong sense of belonging and healthy self-esteem, and nurturing their increased self-advocacy and responsibility. Whether it is the advisory program, a science or language arts class, an after-school activity or sport, or an outdoor education trip, I am confident that our middle school program will help our students build their personalities fully.
Of course, frequent and open communication between school and home is important during the middle school years. Toward this end, please remember that teachers and administrators welcome conversation with you, as it is through this collaborative approach that our students thrive.
I look forward to our work together, and if you have any questions about middle school, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
