NIDO NEWS

Ski Club 2018

Greetings all,

With the change in the weather, many of us are excited about the upcoming ski season that awaits us in the nearby slopes of the Andes.

4 YEARS OLD - 5TH GRADE:

After a successful Nido Jr. Ski Club program last year at both Valle Nevado and La Parva we are pleased to offer this opportunity again, as well as an option at El Colorado, if there is enough interest for the minimal quantity as defined by each ski resort.

Please review the the documents with details for the potential Nido Jr Ski Club options at each ski resort: La Parva, Valle Nevado and El Colorado. Then complete the following registration link to record your registration preferences.

2018 Nido Jr. SKI CLUB REGISTRATION LINK (ages 4 years old - 5th grade). Contracts requiring your signature are not needed yet, but will be sent when appropriate.

After examining your requests, compared to the min/max requirements at each ski resort, I will be in touch with you based on the email address and other info you provide in the above registration link. Current 5th graders moving to 6th will be eligible for the 6th - 12th grade program.

6TH - 12TH GRADES (Valle Nevado):

For students, currently grades 5 - 11, who will be in 6th - 12th grade for the 2018- 2019 school year, we invite you to read the following information.

The registration consists of two parts:

1. Completion of the 2018 Nido Ski/Snowboard Club E-Form

2. A signed 2018 Ski Club Permission form turned in to me, Mr. Casey in 5th grade, or into any of the ES, MS or HS offices by May 18th.

The 2018 ski Club dates are: Aug 4, 11, 18, 25, Sept 1 and Sep 8. If one day is cancelled for inclement weather we'll replace it at a later date.

*There are no refunds for classes missed for student absences.

We have many Nido staff members (10:1 ratio) excited to share their passion of skiing/snowboarding with the Nido students for the upcoming season.

For less ($665.000) than the cost of a regular season pass ($700.000 - $765.000) at Valle Nevado, your student(s) will receive:

  • Full Season Pass (the passes will be ready by the end of this school year for use during the winter vacations)

WELCOME BACK FROM HS PRINCIPAL MCKENNA

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! I love the start of school. It brings with it a new sense of possibility, excitement, and challenge.

WELCOME BACK FROM MS PRINCIPAL SHAWE

I trust that your child enjoyed the winter break – traveling, reading (I hope!), sleeping a bit later – and that she/he returned home today excited about the start of the new school year.

WELCOME BACK FROM ES PRINCIPAL JAMES

I hope your vacations were restorative and included plenty of family time and positive memories. One of my favorite parts about a new school year, is hearing all of the stories from students as I walk the playground and through classrooms.

WELCOME BACK FROM EYS PRINCIPAL COTA

One of my favorite aspects of working within the Early Years School (EYS) is being able welcome the new and returning students to the EYS. It is such a joy to see the excitement and sometimes the apprehensive looks upon their faces as they enter their classrooms filled with new friends, teachers and environments.

WELCOME BACK FROM ATHLETICS

At Nido, Athletics plays an important role in our community and especially in our student athletes' lives. We offer structured, organized sports and ongoing physical activities.

WELCOME BACK FROM THE ARTS

The Fine Arts Building Office would like to extend our welcome for the 2018-2019 school year. We'd like to invite you to the artistic activities we have scheduled throughout the year in hopes of counting with your presence as its the motivation and drive for our young artists.

NIDO ADULT SOCCER ACADEMY

Are you a Nido parent, alumni, or staff who loves to play soccer, but doesn't have a way to play? Join us on Mondays and Thursdays evenings beginning August 13 for the Nido Adult Soccer Academy.

A MESSAGE FROM HS PRINCIPAL PETIT

I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with your students during this year, most recently as the Interim Principal of the High School.
