Six teachers from Nido de Aguilas recently traveled to Concepción to provide professional development to over 60 teachers from the BioBió region as a part of the Teachers' Academy, an initiative formed by the national plan English in English. Nido teachers worked specifically with 5th and 6th grade English teachers on the topics of speaking and listening.
The Teachers' Academy initiative promotes a strategic alliance with bilingual schools and aims to develop innovative methodological tools focused on the student, including project-based learning, differentiation, and assessment. In addition, each day our teachers worked together with the teachers of Concepción to provide practical sessions to review key aspects of planning work and how to integrate what they learned in previous sessions.
Programs like this align with Nido's vision to be an open and dynamic global education center that is a hub of knowledge create and dissemination for Chile and the world, and allow for us to share The Nido Way of teaching and learning. Nido has also hosted a similar program with Programa Inglés Abre Puertas the past two summers on our campus, which has been a powerful experience for our teachers to share their pedagogy and also learn from participants.
Thank you to Nido teachers Giannina Borel, Constanza Burgueño, Rodrigo Cea, Brenda Delany, Carolina Lazcano, and Melissa Strenger for their important work, and to the Ministry of Education for their support of this program.
