The Nido swimming program has been further developed with the addition of UNIDO, a High Performance level Swim Club that was created with Universidad Andres Bello. The UNIDO name comes from the combination of Nido and Universidad Andres Bello. This partnership will bring benefits to Nido through academics with new strategic alliances and athletics with a larger coaching staff.
Students in Grades 1-12 can be part of the Junior or Senior Nido Eagle Rays, but if they want to achieve a higher performance level then they can also commit to the UNIDO practices before and after school.
"We already have an amazing swim program with 300 kids that is incredibly successful, but now we are revamping it and adding another level", says Athletic Director, Claudia Araya.
Thanks to UNIDO, from now on, our Nido Eagle Rays will be able to compete at an even more competitive national and international level. Several of our UNIDO swimmers have already battled at the last National tournament with superb results.
We are happy to announce that this month, three of our UNIDO swimmers will be representing Chile at the 6th FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in Indianapolis, USA and two at the South American Copa Pacífico held in La Paz, Bolivia. In late September, three swimmers will be competing at the 2017 South American Youth Games in Santiago.
"Swimming, even though its an individual sport, its also a team sport. Comradery amongst swimmers and parents is huge. Its all about practice and a huge style of life", adds Claudia Araya.
The Aquatics Center boasts the best short course pool in Chile, with an amazing coaching staff, and we can't wait for our Nido Eagle Rays to be the best that they can be. For more information, dates and prices of this program, click here.
