The entire Nido community is invited to Kermess, our largest event of the year, on Saturday, November 24, 11:00am - 4:30pm.
Kermess celebrates the diversity of the Nido community, which is currently comprised of 47 different nationalities. It is an international festival in which these various countries are represented, and it provides an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the cultures, traditions, and cuisine of each place. Participating countries will have their own stand where they will offer typical food and drink, as well as demonstrating their culture and traditions. In total, Kermess typically draws more than 4,000 attendees from inside and outside our school community.
KERMESS 2018 PROCEEDS
Each year we aim for Kermess to be more sustainable. This year, along with the entrance ticket, adults will receive a plate, cup, and utensils (fork and spoon). Entrance is 5.000 for adults and children come in for free. Students who do not bring their own set, or adults who lose their set, will be able to purchase one for $1.500 at the food ticket cashier. Kermess 2018 proceeds will go towards Nido's sustainability plan.
Bigger than ever!
Like last year, Kermess will expand to the Middle School Plaza! The food ticket cashier will be located by the ES Media Center entrance, and the stage and several popular food stands will be in the Middle School Plaza. Please bring a blanket to enjoy a picnic with your delicious snacks in front of the show!
Previously one of most popular Kermess stands, the tombola made a comeback last year, and will also be present in 2018's edition. This year, students will be in charge! They are looking for prizes of all sizes! The tombola is a raffle style game in which everyone who plays gets a prize. The proceeds of the tombola will go towards Nido's financial aid program. Financial aid is provided to Nido students whose families need help covering the cost of tuition, ensuring there are no barriers to a Nido education.
It's not too late to make a contribution to the stall! We will be accepting prizes of all sizes up until a few days before Kermess. However, if you plan to bring something in, please let us know by Friday, November 16 so that we can make sure you are recognized in the Tombola thank you banner. If you have something you would like to contribute to the tombola, please contact student Izumi Tanaka (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information.
THANK YOU TO OUR KERMESS SPONSORS!
