The International School Nido de Aguilas

Kermess 2017

The entire Nido community is invited to Kermess, our largest event of the year, on Saturday, November 18, 11:00am - 4:30pm.

Kermess celebrates the diversity of the Nido community, which is currently comprised of 47 different nationalities. It is an international festival in which these various countries are represented, and it provides an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the cultures, traditions, and cuisine of each place. Participating countries will have their own stand where they will offer typical food and drink, as well as demonstrating their culture and traditions. In total, Kermess typically draws more than 4,000 attendees from inside and outside our school community.

Enhancing the Learning Environment

The 2017 Kermess funds raised will be allocated toward improving the learning environment both for our students and as a school community. Half of the funds will be designated to develop and begin the implementation of a Nido sustainability plan in 2018. The other half will help to fund new classroom furniture and upgrades for the students in grades PK-5 that adapts to fit different learning and teaching styles and enhances their classroom environment.

Going Green

Each year we aim for Kermess to be more sustainable. This year, we encourage all parents and students who attend to bring their own plate, cup, and utensils (fork and spoon). Those who support the school and our environment in this effort will receive a discounted entrance ticket for $3.500. Adults who do not bring their own plate, cup, and utensils will pay $5.000 and receive one reusable set for the day. Students who do not bring their own set, or adults who lose their set, will be able to purchase one for $1.500 at the food ticket cashier.

There will be two washing stations located at Kermess staffed by student volunteers who are supporting a more environmentally-friendly Nido.

Bigger than ever!

This year Kermess will expand to the Middle School Plaza! The food ticket cashier will be located by the ES Media Center entrance, and the stage and several popular food stands will be in the Middle School Plaza. Please bring a blanket to enjoy a picnic with your delicious snacks in front of the show!

Kermess Tombola

Previously one of most popular Kermess stands, the tombola is making a come back for 2017 and we are looking for prizes of all sizes. The tombola is a raffle style game in which everyone who plays gets a prize. The proceeds of the tombola will go towards Nido's financial aid program. Financial aid is provided to Nido students whose families need help covering the cost of tuition, ensuring there are no barriers to a Nido education.

It's not too late to make a contribution to the stall! We will be accepting prizes of all sizes up until a few days before Kermess. However, if you plan to bring something in, please let us know by Friday, November 10 so that we can make sure you are recognized in the Tombola thank you banner.

If you have something you would like to contribute to the tombola, please contact Emma Shires ( for more information.
