NIDO NEWS

A MESSAGE FROM MS PRINCIPAL SHAWE

Dear Middle School Parents,

Over the past ten months, it has been an honor to share in your children's Middle School journey. Whether they were...

• donating a trampoline at Hogar San Vicente, spending time with the senior citizens at Los Aromos, or reading to EYS students as part of the G.I.V.E. program,

• gracing us on stage with a song, symphony, or dramatic performance,

• hosting students from Graded School for a Model UN meet,

• stepping out of their comfort zones during a team initiative at Lagunillas or Los Pellines,

• lending their voices during Nido's first AMIS middle school choir festival,

serving as ambassadors and making sure our new students are doing well,

• giving 100% in the pool, on the futbol pitch, around the track, and on the court,

• showcasing their knowledge and creativity through fantasy stories, Spanish debates, book trailers, the STEM Expo, innovation projects, and

• sponsoring a bake sale, car wash, or flower sale to raise funds for worthy causes,

• organizing the MS Halloween Fun Fest as part of the National Junior Honor Society

• sharing a smile at events like the Dieciocho BBQ, Spirit Week, and Iron Chef,

• playing a lead role during their parent-teacher conferences,

• bringing their enthusiasm and energy to Ornithology, Photography, Hiking, and countless other ASA offerings

...we thank them for their contributions to our Middle School community.

To those families moving to another country, please know we will miss you and wish you the best in your next adventures. And to those families returning to Nido, I trust the next several weeks will provide much rest and relaxation. We look forward to seeing you again at the end of July!

My best to you,

Tony Shawe

Middle School Principal

WELCOME BACK FROM HS PRINCIPAL MCKENNA

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! I love the start of school. It brings with it a new sense of possibility, excitement, and challenge.

WELCOME BACK FROM MS PRINCIPAL SHAWE

I trust that your child enjoyed the winter break – traveling, reading (I hope!), sleeping a bit later – and that she/he returned home today excited about the start of the new school year.

WELCOME BACK FROM ES PRINCIPAL JAMES

I hope your vacations were restorative and included plenty of family time and positive memories. One of my favorite parts about a new school year, is hearing all of the stories from students as I walk the playground and through classrooms.

WELCOME BACK FROM EYS PRINCIPAL COTA

One of my favorite aspects of working within the Early Years School (EYS) is being able welcome the new and returning students to the EYS. It is such a joy to see the excitement and sometimes the apprehensive looks upon their faces as they enter their classrooms filled with new friends, teachers and environments.

WELCOME BACK FROM ATHLETICS

At Nido, Athletics plays an important role in our community and especially in our student athletes' lives. We offer structured, organized sports and ongoing physical activities.

WELCOME BACK FROM THE ARTS

The Fine Arts Building Office would like to extend our welcome for the 2018-2019 school year. We'd like to invite you to the artistic activities we have scheduled throughout the year in hopes of counting with your presence as its the motivation and drive for our young artists.

NIDO ADULT SOCCER ACADEMY

Are you a Nido parent, alumni, or staff who loves to play soccer, but doesn't have a way to play? Join us on Mondays and Thursdays evenings beginning August 13 for the Nido Adult Soccer Academy.

A MESSAGE FROM HS PRINCIPAL PETIT

I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with your students during this year, most recently as the Interim Principal of the High School.
