Nueva Biblioteca Escolar de la Unidad de Currículum y Evaluación (UCE) del Mineduc

Con una amplia oferta de más de 500 libros de descarga liberada para estudiantes, profesores y la comunidad lectora en general, el Mineduc lanzó en Diciembre la Biblioteca Escolar UCE.

Los libros se pueden descargar a cualquier dispositivo y entre sus obras más destacadas se encuentran obras clásicas y cuentos infantiles contemporáneos. Para nombrar solo algunos, podemos encontrar las obras de Pedro Calderón de la Barca, de Miguel de Cervantes, los Tratados de Pintura de Leonardo De Vinci, las Obras del poeta Rubén Darío, Shakespeare, Platón, Alexander Dumas, Hans Christian Andersen, Mark Twain, Gabriela Mistral o los Hermanos Grimm.

NIDO'S PAWS FOR POSITIVITY INITIATIVE FEATURED IN 'EDUCATORS GOING GLOBAL' PODCAST

Emotional support dogs positively influence our mental health. So why not bring trained service dogs into schools? Our High School Counselor, Ian Lally, was featured in the Educators Going Global podcast to talk about Nido's Paws for Positivity program with two other international educators who have also started similar programs at their schools.

A Portrait of Nido Learners: Community Art Installation

“Do you see yourself as more of a Connector, Thinker, Inquirer, Designer, or Changemaker?” This was the prompt given to all of our 1500 students last week during the visit by artist Adele Caemmerer. Instead of answering verbally, or in writing, students selected a color associated with each of the options and tied a ribbon of that color to a panel of wire mesh. Taken all together, the “data set” generated by the prompt has created a beautiful hanging exhibit just outside the entrance to the Media Center.

Congratulations, Class of 2023, on your University Acceptances!

College acceptances are in, and this year’s 125 Nido graduates will attend top universities across five continents. Of the students studying abroad, 99% got accepted to one of their top five choices, our eagles will fly to Princeton, Duke, Columbia, University of Toronto, King’s College London, Universidad Europea de Madrid, University of Sidney, and many more. In addition, the students planning to study in Chile will take the Chilean University Placement test (PAES) this November and commit to a university in January. Bravo, Class of 2023!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month at Nido - A Message from our Head of School

At Nido, we proudly observe Mental Health Awareness Month in May in order to build awareness and highlight what we do every day to ensure the well-being of our students, faculty and staff. As a learning community prioritizing mental health, we aim to support such initiatives during this month and throughout the year. We strongly believe that promoting mental health and wellness is critical to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. We do this in many ways that are woven into the fabric of our school.

Changemakers' Celebration of Learning

On Apirl 25th, the first ever Nido  Changemakers’  Celebration of Learning took place. The event clearly captured Nido's mission in action.  Grade 1, 2 and 4 students connected in multiple authentic ways with the learning, explored their Changemaker inquiries with enthusiastic curiosity, and acted with purpose in sharing their learning with their audience.
