Hats off to Olga Kostochka '17 and her company Mosaic Build Yourself for the generous donation which enabled the construction of a traverse climbing wall in the Elementary School playground. The wall was designed by the ES Math Group who created the project around the question "How can math help us design a climbing wall for the 3-5 grade playground?" They learned math formulas, measured fellow students, designed routes for the wall, and interviewed experts and classmates, perfecting and checking every last detail with thorough research and mathematics. When Olga learned about this activity, she made this project become a reality.  Read more

Thank you to Tom Lee '98 for making Nido the first school in Latin America to participate in the NASA HASSE Space School.  "As an alumnus and Nido parent, my goal is to help the school as much as I can", says Tom. Once he heard about the NASA program, he knew it would be great for the school. Thanks to the strength of the Nido STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) program, Nido applied and received the invitation from NASA. "I am very grateful that Nido believed in this project. The students had fun, learned, and received wonderful experiences and memories. My goal now is to give more Nido students the opportunity to learn from the best in NASA and have this wonderful experience." Read more.

Nearly 400 kinder and elementary students attended the book presentations of "My Feelings" and "My Tree and Me", illustrated by Maggie Escartin '64 at the Nido library. Maggie, who specializes in social work initiatives with children, lives in Australia with her husband Arturo Escartin '63 and donated these books to The School on her last visit to Chile.

The books, which address the difficulty that children sometimes have in recognizing their feelings and how important it is for them to identify emotions, inspired students to participate in several activities. Read more.
