Alumni Involvement with Nido Students

Santiago's Mayor, Felipe Alessandri '92, visited Nido to be interviewed by a group of fourth and fifth graders who are debuting a new project—Talon TV.  With four successful years of publishing the very popular Talon Magazine, this group of students are now designing and creating a video extension of the magazine.  Look for their episode to debut in October.

Thank you for your visit Mayor Alessandri!

Gonzalo Allendes '08,  Berklee College of Music graduate, presented his book "The Sound Palette" to our 11th and 12th grade IB Music students and offered them a music theory clinic.

Alumni Spotlight

Film-maker, Shawn Garry 97, is busy working on his second feature film, "El Mandato," a biographical film about Cardinal Raúl Silva Henríquez.  After Nido, Shawn attended the College of Santa Fe from where he obtained a B.A. in Moving Image in 2001. Garry's acclaimed first feature film "Desierto Sur" (2008) was presented and won various awards in numerous international film festivals including Mannheim-Heidelberg in Germany, Palm Springs, Shanghai, Viña del Mar, Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival and many other festivals in Latin America, Asia and Europe. Shawn also produced Diego Ruiz' movie "Iglu," and currently directs advertisement for FUNKY FILMS-DEMENTE CHILE, including controversial topics like therapeutic abortion for the NGO MILES CHILE. The series was honored with the Bronze Lion at the Cannes Festival in 2015.

New Financial Aid Program at Nido

In July, Nido launched its new financial aid program, with 13 students receiving partial support to attend Nido. The program is need and merit-based and seeks to make a Nido education accessible for families that share Nido's values and approach to education, and yet are unable to cover the full cost of tuition. The program is funded primarily by earnings from the new endowment and donations to the Nido Fund. This year, Nido's faculty and staff are donating to begin the Nido Faculty and Staff Prizes, to be given as part of the financial aid program. The NAA is supporting this important program and we invite you to learn more about this initiative here .
