Dear Nido Community,
Please know that we are monitoring the situation in regard to the global health concerns over the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV). In the case of a confirmed outbreak in Chile, Nido will follow the protocol issued by the Chilean Health Ministry and implement preventative measures in order to decrease the risk of infection.
In the meantime, please follow common preventative measures for people who have traveled abroad to affected areas or who may have been in contact with people from affected areas. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has advised against nonessential travel to China. Students who have traveled to China over the break or have been in contact with those who have traveled to China will please be in touch with the Nido Health Unit (cdepetris@nido.cl or 22-3398140) prior to returning to school.
Preventative measures include:
- Avoiding close contact with people suffering from acute respiratory infections;
- Frequent hand-washing, especially after direct contact with ill people or their environment;
- When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth with a tissue or your inner elbow;
- Consult with a doctor if you present any of the symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath, and difficulty in breathing) and you have been in the affected areas or in contact with people from there.
We will communicate any necessary plans or precautions closer to when the school opens as needed.
Best regards,
Nido Health Unit
