Admissions FAQ

Go to the Nido Website Admissions tab to apply.  The online application is quick and easy. Apply as early as possible.  

If you have one child, the process will only take 30 minutes to complete. If you have more than one child, it will take no more than 60 minutes.

All documents should be uploaded electronically to our Online Application system: 

• Passport (PDF)
• School records (PDFs: one to three years of records - depending on age) 
• Email addresses of current teachers and guidance counselors or administrator
• Family photo (JPG)
• Photo of applicant (JPG)

Please contact admissions@nido.cl to schedule a tour.  Generally, our tours are on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays beginning at 10:30 AM. Always contact the admissions office to ensure a tour is being given on the days you want to attend. 

All school systems are different and we accept students from differing calendars and school systems each year.  We use age, grade, and professional judgment to place students in the appropriate grade level to determine their best option for success.

Yes, when necessary. As with many international schools around the world, demand can fluctuate and is often high. This means that, at the time you apply, our classes may be full. In these cases, we open a waiting list for the class concerned. A member of our Admissions Team will be happy to explain to you how we operate our waiting list at Nido.

Nido has rolling admissions and accepts applications throughout the school year. If you plan to arrive in April and beyond please contact the admissions office.

High School students are required to start at the beginning of the semester in order to earn the appropriate credits for graduation. Please contact the admissions office if you have any questions.

Please consider arriving 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the school year for placement interviews and evaluations, as well as New Student and Parent Orientation

Nido follows a US-based calendar adjusted to the Chilean seasons

Our first semester is from July to December.

Our second semester is from February to June.

ALL HS students accepted to Nido must attend New Student Orientation and start the first day of the semester. 

ALL HS students are required to bring their OFFICIAL HS transcript in a sealed envelope.

Your child may be interested in pursuing our IB Diploma Program. Please note that enrollment in this program will be determined in consultation with our HS counselors after you arrive in Chile. The decision is dependent upon determining the best possible strategy for university application options and ultimate success.

• Nido is a certified IB World School and offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in 11th and 12th grade.

  • Please note that transferring mid-diploma program is very difficult. If your 11th grader is currently in the IBDP program please contact our Admissions Office to see if transfer into our IBDP program would be possible.

• Students in the Early Years and Elementary School are required to wear any combination of Nido clothing daily. Uniforms are available from several suppliers. Due to COVID, the School understands families may have not been able to purchase uniforms and there may be limited stock of some models, therefore for the second semester of the 2021-2022 school year, the EYS & ES students will only be required to wear the Nido shirt.
  • The NPA store is served by volunteer parents and 100% of its earnings are used for the benefit of the Nido community.
  • Uniforms are available at our NPA store and at Scolari.
• Middle and High School students are expected to maintain their personal appearance in accordance with the expectations of the society in which we live and learn. They are asked to comply with what Nido considers to be appropriate dress and personal appearance for a school setting. Our Dress/Appearance Code is based on such considerations as cleanliness, modesty, concern for different cultural expectations and norms, and generally accepted standards of appropriateness for students of Middle and High School age.
  • Middle School and High School students are required to wear a uniform for PE classes. 

In grades PK through grade 2 there are no cafeteria services provided. Students in grades K2 to grade 2 bring their own lunch from home.

In grades Grades 3—12, hot and cold lunch services are available through our cafeteria provider. Monthly menus are posted in the Parent Portal with daily lunch choices. This is an optional service and students may bring their own lunch from home.

Nido de Aguilas facilitates the safe, comfortable, and convenient transportation of students by bus to and from campus through contracted services with a private outside bus transportation provider. This service can be arranged through our transportation office. Buses service many areas of Lo Barnechea, Vitacura, and Las Condes but not La Reina, Ñuñoa, Chicureo, or Providencia. 

The Nido After School Activities (ASA) program offers a range of after school activities aimed at providing an exploratory, authentic learning environment that fosters extensive, non-competitive growth in the visual and performing arts, sciences, culture, fitness, and wellness.

The Nido Financial Aid program aims to make a Nido education accessible for families that share Nido's values and appreciate its pedagogical approach but are unable to cover the entire cost of the tuition.

There are many opportunities for parents to get involved either in the classroom or through our Nido Parent Association (NPA). The NPA aims to collaborate with our children's education and promote community spirit among all the Nido community. The NPA welcomes the involvement of all parents and encourages the sharing of ideas and previous school experiences.

 Nido knows new! If you are coming in at the beginning of the semester, your child will have the opportunity to participate in the New Student Orientation. Our Counselors and Student Ambassadors are in charge of planning and organizing orientation for new students. 

If you are not starting at the beginning of the semester, teachers, counselors, student ambassadors (ES, MS, and HS), and classmates will make sure that your child has a smooth transition. 50% of our students have been new at some point!
