Autism Spectrum Law
The Autism Spectrum Disorder Law (ASD Law) No. 21.545 outlines the obligations to foster inclusion, comprehensive care, and the protection of the rights of children and adolescents with ASD. ASD is recognized as a permanent special educational need that creates barriers to learning and participation that typical teaching methods cannot resolve. Students with ASD require adjustments, resources, and measures beyond those commonly provided to most students. These adjustments are only offered to students whose parents submit a medical certificate confirming their ASD condition. Please note that, legally, the school must request an external evaluation from the parents if there is a suspicion of an ASD condition.
