Welcome to our High School!

Kate McKenna

Thank you for visiting the high school page of the Nido de Aguilas website. Here families will find information about our academic programco-curricular activities, and both athletic and artistic offerings.

In our High School, students encounter a warm and welcoming community ready to accept them as they are and nurture them to become their best selves. Our classes are taught by some of the most talented and committed teachers in the world. When I visit classrooms, one of the first things I notice is an authentic sense of affection between the students and their teachers.  Teachers guide students, but rarely lecture; students are accountable to each other — rather than taking notes and sitting back, they learn by discussing their ideas, experimenting, creating, and transferring their ideas to new and novel situations.

One of the important aspects of Nido is our diverse community.  Students appreciate learning about the cultures and traditions of their classmates. We celebrate our diversity as a way of investigating and understanding the world. Additionally, if students are willing to work hard, they can graduate from Nido fluent in both English and Spanish. In this and other ways, we prepare students for life in a world with fading borders.

One of the hallmarks of our High School program is that students have programmatic choice. In addition to our own diploma, we also offer both a Chilean National Diploma and the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Students are able to explore our curriculum and select classes that are important to their unique talents and interests. All of this is in an effort to place every student in the best college or university related to his or her goals. We are connected with superb higher education programs around the world, and we make sure that these institutions know and understand the value of a Nido education. We often hear from university admissions representatives that Nido students not only excel in their programs, but they emerge as campus and community leaders.

Finally, while visiting this page, take in the pictures and note how beautiful it is here in Chile- and especially on our campus. The snow-capped mountains seem close enough to touch, and our open campus blends in perfectly with the landscape. The smiles on the faces you see are real- this is a joyous place to learn and grow.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you might have about our dynamic high school program.

Warm regards,

Kate McKenna
