NIDO DE AGUILAS ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT PLAY HARD, PLAY FAIR, & HAVE FUN! WEEKLY UPDATE: Sept. 6 - 10 COPA LA DEHESA HIGHLIGHTS: Our NIDO Blue boys varsity soccer team played valiantly on Monday, but lost their league match versus a strong team from Colegio Cia Maria Apoquindo. Our NIDO White boys team did not play this past week, as they will resume their league schedule this coming week (see weekly game schedule on website). The varsity soccer girls game scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 2 was rained out, and rescheduled for the following Thursday, Sept. 9. So, the girls will play two league matches this week, at 5:00pm on Tuesday and at 6:15pm on Thursday. All four of our varsity volleyball teams played matches this past Tuesday, as both NIDO White squads won league matches versus Colegio Cia Maria Apoquindo. The boys won easily 2 sets to 0, but the girls had to battle back versus a strong opponent, losing the first set, followed by the team raising their level and winning the next two sets for a determined victory. Our NIDO Red girls team played well but lost 0 sets to 2 versus Colegio Nuestra Sra. Loreto. The NIDO Red boys played the same opponent, and lost the first set, and then rebounded to win the second set, forcing a third-set decider. After falling behind early, our EAGLES fought back valiantly but lost a close set in the end in a superb encounter. A good day overall for our NIDO Volleyball Teams! MIDDLE SCHOOL/INFANTIL BOYS’ RUGBY FIRST MATCH: Our MS/Infantil boys team played their first League Catolica match on this past Wednesday, as they traveled to St. George’s College. On a cold, rainy afternoon the boys put forth a strong effort, ending up with a 20-20 tie game, narrowly missing out on a win as their opponents scored a good try in the closing seconds. Congratulations to our rugby team on a great start to their competitive season! Their next match will be on Wed. Sept. 8, as they travel to Tabancura for a match at 16:30. Please see details on the "weekly game schedule" concerning departure and return to Nido. MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL HIGHLIGHTS: The mini and infantil boys basketball teams hosted their League Catolica rivals Aleman D.S on this past Wednesday. The Mini team showed some improvement in various skills, while losing to a strong opponent. The Infantil boys continued their strong team play, winning another game in dominating fashion by a 49-9 scoreline. The boys teams played again on Saturday, with both Infantil and Mini winning versus the visiting Larrain school teams. The girls teams games scheduled for Saturday (at San Marcos) were postponed, and will be rescheduled to a date after the upcoming holiday week. GOLF LESSONS OFFERED AT VALLE ESCONDIDO!
