Classroom Guidance Lessons

Guidance lessons are an integral part of the Middle School educational program. Lessons are developmental by design and include sequential activities organized and implemented by the counselor in coordination and collaboration with administrators, teachers, and other members of the community.

These are some of the opportunities used for classroom presentations throughout the year.

New Student Orientation
• Tuesday Guidance Activities through Advisory (6th, 7th and 8th grade)
• 6th grade Social Emotional Lessons (15 sessions)
• 6th grade Human Growth and Sexuality week
• 7th grade Social Emotional Lessons (15 sessions)
• 7th grade Human Growth and Sexuality week
• 8th grade Human Growth and Sexuality week

Lessons requested by teaches and/or teams, in response to issues in their classrooms. For example, this year, Mr. Wilhelm requested a session about dealing with loss to help his 8th grade students grasp the deeper meanings in the Elie Wiesel novel they were studying, Night.
