The Middle School program (grades 6, 7
and 8) transitions students from the self-contained
classroom setting of the elementary school
to one that takes a more in-depth study
of the core areas of English/Language
Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies
and Spanish. These core courses are supplemented
by the middle school Encore
program in which students participate
in art, drama, music, physical education
and health. Computer
education is integrated into all core
area subjects. With the exception of Spanish
classes, all instruction is in English.
In order to meet to meet the myriad social,
emotional and academic needs of our adolescent
students, we also have an advisory
program, a house program, a resource
center for academic support for a limited
number of students, and a wide variety
of sports
and afterschool
activities.
We
aim to create a learning environment
that enhances each student's self-esteem,
personal and social growth and academic
achievement.
