Required subjects include English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Spanish or French, Physical Educaion, Fine Arts, and Computer. To earn a Nido de Aguilas diploma, a student must be enrolled for a minimum of one school year.

International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB)
This Diploma is recognized by a variety of universities around the world. It is a two-year course of study (grades 11 and 12) composed of academically challenging courses in six subject areas including English, a second language, mathematics, science, social science, and a 6th IB area of the students choosing such as music, drama, art or computer studies, as well as, an independent research project and participation in Creative, Action or Service (CAS) projects. Students may pursue the full IB Diploma or take individual courses for certificates. Both the full diploma and certificate courses require rigorous, externally marked examinations.

1. PURPOSE: The Nido Academic Diploma Plan is designed for all students who are applying for universities in the United States, Canada, and in countries that recognize a U.S. type diploma. Chilean students must follow the National Plan as well as earning the Nido Academic Diploma.
2. CURRICULUM: The Nido Academic
Diploma plan includes a core curriculum
(see graduation subject distribution requirements).
Students are strongly encouraged to carefully
plan their course selections according
to their future university plans. In planning
a program of studies, the student should
consider his/her present interests, abilities
and available career plans prior to choosing
courses. If a student plans to go to a
specific university, it is strongly recommended
that qualifications and courses required
for admission are identified. Admissions
committees at four-year universities typically
respond favorably to students who elect
the most difficult courses possible and
earn credits beyond the minimum requirements.
Students in Grades 9 - 10 must typically take eight courses. English and social studies must be taken each year, usually math, science and a foreign language will be scheduled. Physical education is mandatory in 9th and 10th grades unless waived. Students in grades 11-12 may choose any electives if they have met the distribution requirements in the designated subject areas. All students are strongly encouraged to take Spanish each year.
3. CORRESPONDENCE COURSES: Correspondence courses are not accepted for graduation unless the institution offering the course work is approved by Nido de Aguilas. Students may not take more than two credits of correspondence courses for graduation. Students failing required subjects in grades 9-12 must either repeat the course the following year or take a correspondence course (with prior approval of the Counselor and Principal) the following year.
