NIDO'S
COUNSELING DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The purpose of the Counseling Department
at Nido de Aguilas is to provide solution-focused
counseling services that will facilitate
student’s academic, social, and
emotional growth.
OUR
TEAM
The counseling team consists of the guidance
counselors and school psychologists. We
hold university graduate level training
in guidance and counseling and we are
qualified to provide confidential and
professional support services to students,
teachers, parents and the community. We
work collaboratively in a professional,
ethical and cooperative manner to advocate
for our students’ well being and
the success of our program.
OUR
JOB
To support our students and our community,
our Counselors provide a variety of services
using a developmental approach:
• Conducting individual
and group solution-focused counseling
with students, teachers and parents. Common
areas of guidance:
1. Academic/Behavioral
2. Personal/Social
3. College and Career
• Interviewing and placing
new students.
• Conducting orientation
and grade level transition programs with
students and parents.
• Teaching classroom guidance lessons.
• Preparing crisis management
and intervention strategies.
• Participating in Child/Student
Study Team meetings to discuss special
needs of students and to develop intervention
strategies.
• Consulting with the
teachers, parents and administration with
regards to:
1. Classroom Management
2. Parenting Skills
3. Community Resources
4. Scheduling and Sectioning
5. Adjustment to a new environment
6. ESL, SSL and Resource
Center placements.
