Greetings from Middle School!
I trust that your child enjoyed the winter break – traveling, reading (I hope!), sleeping a bit later – and that she/he returns home today with a huge smile about the start of the new school year. For me, I spent a couple of weeks in the States visiting with family, and while I had a great time playing with my three-year-old twin nephews and eating Chesapeake Bay steamed crabs (a Baltimore, Maryland tradition!), I certainly am excited for classes to start up again and to share in the myriad experiences that make our Middle School such a good place to be.
The Middle School teachers and I spent the past week discussing all facets of this division. We look forward to celebrating the unique aspects of middle school students, offering them a rich and challenging curriculum, cultivating in them a strong sense of belonging and healthy self-esteem, and witnessing their increased self-advocacy and responsibility as they navigate these middle school waters. Whether it is the advisory program, a particular class, a fine or performing arts offering, an after-school activity or sport, or an outdoor education trip, I am confident that our Middle School program will help our students build their personalities fully.
Of course, frequent and open communication between school and home is important during the Middle School years. Toward this end, please remember that teachers and administrators welcome conversation with you, as it is through this collaborative approach that our students thrive.
I look forward to our work together, and if you have any questions about the Middle School program, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
