The Nido Music Department welcomes creative and curious students who are eager to collaborate in the joy of exploring musical techniques, styles, and cultures. We believe in a holistic and all-inclusive approach, developing each student’s creativity, curiosity, and collaborative spirit through the pursuit of artistic growth and excellence.
Early Childhood Center students have push-in music classes focused on the concept of music and movement. Elementary School students have music class every three days, which includes singing, composition, Orff instruments, recorder, and music theory. The Elementary School offers Orff, Kodaly, and Dalcroze pedagogical methods. Students in Middle School are offered a choice of Band, Choir, or String Ensemble. In these classes, students study performance, listening, theory, and composition using technology and incorporating integrated units across other subjects. In High School, students can select from Concert Band, Concert Choir, and String Orchestra, which are year-long courses, as well as semester-long courses, including Music Creation, Guitar Techniques, and Piano Skills. Nido also offers IB Music courses.
