The International School Nido de Aguilas offers a U.S. style, university preparatory program.  The academic program’s primary focus is on preparation for entrance to English speaking universities.  As such, the curriculum and class offerings are university preparatory in nature. The school is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the largest accrediting agency of public and private elementary and secondary schools in the United States. SACS accreditation means that all academic work, report cards, grade transcripts and diplomas are widely recognized by other schools and universities.  Nido de Aguilas is also accredited by the Chilean Ministry of Education and it is the official U.S. State Department endorsed school in Chile.

The school has four divisions including the early childhood center (pre-school – grade 1), elementary (grades 2 - 5), middle school (grades 6 - 8), and high school (grades 9-12).

All classes are taught in English except Spanish language, which is required at all grade levels from kindergarten to grade 12.  Nido offers special classes to support non-native English speakers. However, entrance to upper elementary, middle and high school grades require prerequisite levels of English proficiency.  Given the academic nature of the school’s program, special services are available to support students with only MILD learning disabilities. Nido does NOT offer programs for students with more serious learning disabilities or those who have special physical or emotional needs.

Grading is based on the Chilean National 1-7 points system.  These points are then converted to the traditional United States “A” through “F” system for use on transcripts.
